The premise: Very loosely based on the Philip K. Dick short story We Can Remember It For You Wholesale, Paul Verhoeven (controversial Dutch director and Rutger Hauer lover) brings us a vision of the future. Set in 2084, the movie focuses on Douglas Quaid (Arnold Schwarzenegger), your average, everyday young man, who happens to be built like King Kong on steroids. Quaid attempts to live out his fantasies with the latest technology: Mind Rape. According to the preview, everything goes about as well as could be with a process called Mind Rape..
A friend of mine recently saw a screening for this and informed me that the only thing that you really actually need to know about the movie is included in the following images! Brace yourself for a world of mutants and science fiction!
Also, this may just be more important than the entire plot.. Also, possibly the only thing that anyone will ever remember of this movie 20 years from now when friends totally recall the coolest things ever seen on the big screen in the history of ever:
After watching the trailer for this, I seem to have this feeling that I've been put onto this Earth for something more. Which is why I'll never go to Mars. Mars, I'm pretty sure, will just make me feel gassy.. And a bit insignificant. Paul Verhoeven is a whacko-genius with a unique vision of pretty much everything.. And this movie is no different. It takes a special mind to take a book that can be summed up in a fortune cookie and turn it into 113 minutes of Arnold Schwarzenegger rocking Martian anus. This movie is basically going to rip our skin off and replace it with sheer enjoyment.. And I can't wait to get my ass to Mars!
