Bangarang, Peter! It's another week, another Wednesday, and another round of movies coming out on Friday! Unfortunately, there isn't a whole lot to offer, but I'm gonna tell you about their trailers any damn way! We have a slick political twister, a quirky road trip COMEDY, and a quirky road trip DRAMA. These are gonna run long, on account of me having nothing else to talk about! Unless you want to discuss why the fuck someone is releasing something called Cleopatra 3D?! Just damn it. Damn. It.
First on the menu: The Ides of March. This stars George Clooney as Governor Mike Morris and Ryan "I'm fucking everywhere" Gosling as his campaign manager, Stephen Meyers. In the trailer, it appears that everything is going Governor Mike Morris' way: he's running for President, he's got a ringer spin-man in the form of Meyers, and he is squeaky clean. Everything is hunky dory.. but then Paul Giamatti (playing Tom Duffy, a rival campaign manager) shows up. And when Paul Giamatti shows up, that's never good in movies. Well, never good for people who aren't Paul Giamatti. So, based on ignoring the rest of the trailer, I assume that Paul Giamatti and Ryan Gosling show up on the steps of The Library of Congress and stab Clooney to death. Looks like it's gonna be a pretty sweet movie!
The Ides of March: Probably not as entertaining or bloody as the actual Ides of March events, but this looks pretty intense and fun to watch. The trailer kept my interest, and for a drama, that's no easy task! I am easily distract..
Dirty Girl: I'm gonna hold out for a rental on this one. I am not a fan of when movies that are well constructed, tank in the theaters.. but this doesn't seem like it should have gone that route. Straight to DVD doesn't have the poor connotations it once had. And this one had "straight to DVD" written all over it's preview.
The Way: Again, straight to DVD isn't as bad as it used to be. Some movies will just do better. For a movie about self-discovery and revelations, this movie looks totally worth watching. Kind of like 127 Hours.. without the wait. Or the Franco. Or the falling into a crevasse.. ok.. so nothing like 127 Hours. Still might be worth checking out on DVD when it hits.
